What Version of WeCare am I using?

Overview

The WeCare System is composed of a number of parts;

• WeCare Database
  The central store of all information
• WeCare Data Exchange (WDX)
  A .NET HTML/XML web service which allows a variety of authorized HTML/XML aware programs to connect to the WeCare Database
• WeCare Care and Accreditation Manager
  The program used by Aged Care Facilities to Assess, Plan and Evaluate resident care needs and report various information to facility management and a variety of government agencies.
  This program connects directly to the WeCare Database
• WeCare Point of Care
  The program used by Aged Care Facilities to deliver and document resident care needs.
  This program uses WDX to connect, when necessary, to the WeCare Database.

As of WeCare 2009 each of these parts can be upgraded and changed to allow greater flexibility in responding to a variety of Facility and Government agency needs and requests.

Every part of the WeCare System has a version number. This should not be confused with the overall WeCare System name.

WeCare System Name

Each year in September, the WeCare System Name changes to reflect the upcoming year. This allows customers to have a general idea on which version of the WeCare System they are using. For example in September 2009, the system name is changed to WeCare 2010.

WeCare Version Number

Each part of the WeCare System has a four (4) part version number. If a change to the WeCare System requires a change in more than one part of the WeCare System, this results in a Major or Minor change. If a change to only one part of the WeCare System is required, this results in a Small or Build change.

• Major
  Major changes require a complete upgrade of the WeCare System and all parts of the WeCare System change their version number.
• Minor
  Minor changes require an upgrade of those parts of the WeCare System which are affected and all affected parts of the WeCare System change their version number.
• Small
  Small changes require an upgrade of only that part of the WeCare System which is affected. These may be small or large changes to that part of the WeCare System, but are limited to only that part.
• Build
  Build changes require an upgrade of only that part of the WeCare System which is affected. Build changes are usually internal changes to reflect, for example a beta version and a release version.

WeCare Database

The WeCare Database will only report it’s version to the WeCare Care and Accreditation Manager. You cannot get the version number directly from the WeCare Database.

WeCare Data Exchange (WDX)

Open a web browser and enter the following address:

http://<IPaddress>:<port>/WDX2/WDX2.aspx?

Where;

• <IPaddress> is the IP Address of the WDX Server
• <port> is the port the WeCare POC connects to the WDX Server

Note: WDX must be in CAPITALS

The return message will be something like this;

__ERR__Missing Device Id v4.1.0 FB 100830 __END__

Where;

• “v4.1.0” indicates the version of WDX
• “FB” indicates WDX is connecting to a Firebird database
• “100830” indicates the build date of WDX.

WeCare Care and Accreditation Manager

Open the Help -> About menu. It will look similar to this;

Where the WeCare CAM is the version of the Care and Accreditation Manager and the WeCare Database Version is the version of the WeCare Database.

WeCare Point of Care for Windows

Open the Help -> About menu. It will look similar to this;

WeCare Point of Care for Windows Mobile

The version number is displayed on the Main Login screen

It is located in the bottom right hand corner

WeCare Point of Care for Palm

Tap on WeCare -> About at the top of the screen. It will look similar to this;
